August 3rd, it’s a Thursday. Come summer, all you have to do is remember what you did with the calendar and we’ll see you on August 3rd at a party even bigger and better than last year’s. That’s a promise.
Linda Roe is doing two sessions in needle felting on April 1st and 8th. These are afternoon classes, 1-4 pm and in the first one, Linda will guide you through the basics. In the second class, you’ll create your own felted landscape or seascape and friends and neighbours will be amazed that you now know the difference between wet and dry felting, can skillfully hang and frame your felts, and you can dress them up with beads, embroidery and other fibres. Only $100 and most supplies are included. Just bring a pair of small scissors. (And for God’s sake, please don’t run with them.)
On the 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th of April, Pat Christiansen will take advantage of those warm spring days to lead a class in landscape painting. Pat’s great with acrylic paints, and loves to teach. So whether you’re an absolute novice or experienced artist looking to polish up your technique, Pat can help with inspiration and hands-on demos. It’s a great way to shake off the winter cobwebs. A material list will be supplied and it’s a deal – only $100 for the four classes 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
More exciting news: Malcolm Callaway has agreed to do a double-header. He’ll be teaching twice a day on Thursdays April 13th through May 11th. He’ll do an afternoon class from 1-4 pm and repeat it in the evening from 6:30-9:30 to make it easier for those of us with day jobs to explore painting with acrylics. He’ll cover all aspects of colour mixing, rendering and composition with demonstrations of landscape, seascape and still life techniques. But wait! There’s more! He’ll even throw in some one-on-one help with your own special projects! (Kittens and grandchildren not included.) All this for only $140 evening or afternoon, shipping and handling included.
Watercolour? You bet. And Right From The Start in a course designed for people who are new to this trickiest of media. Your instructor is Diane Wile Brumm and she’s offering a three-class session on May 3rd, 10th and 17th from 12:30-3:30 in the afternoon. Whether you’ve never painted before or just never tried watercolour, here’s your chance to try something new. You’ll learn basic techniques to create small paintings with an emphasis on exploration, not judgement! Cost? $85.00
